Assimila was founded in November 2006 by Zofia Stott and Jon Styles

Zof Stott

Zofia has over 20 years experience in science and technology policy, space based Earth observation for civil and defence clients and information technology. Much of her technical consultancy work has been directed towards developing public sector strategy, road mapping and forward look studies in support of UK government departments, European Commission and European Space Agency.

Zofia has served on a number of advisory groups. She is currently Chair of BNSC’s Earth Observation Programme Board, providing BNSC with advice regarding the EO part of BNSC’s activities.

Jon Styles

Jon has worked for 20 years in Earth Observation and environmental research.  After gaining a PhD from the University of Reading he worked in technical roles on the data processing systems and cal/val facilities  for ERS-1 and Envisat.  During secondment to Macdonald Dettwiler and Associates in Canada he worked on the Radarsat ground segment as team leader for the ScanSAR mode processor.   He subsequently moved into a management and consulting role and has managed over 50 projects in EO applications development, environment and climate change.

In addition to his technical project management and EO expertise, has wide ranging experience in project definition, cost-benefit  and impact analysis, strategy development and knowledge transfer.  His international experience includes extensive work across Europe as well as in the USA, Canada, Japan and South America.
